Amazon’s Per-Customer Spend Soared 12 Percent In December
Written by Evan SchumanJanuary 10th, 2009
Although Amazon has announced that it had a wonderful holiday season in 2008, the details in terms of revenue were not to be seen. But one analyst firm has projected Amazon’s sales metrics, and the numbers are rather impressive.
The Geezeo’s Main Street Spending Index projected a 17 percent boost in per-customer spending (to $163.63), a 12 percent increase in the number of visits per customer each month (to 3.11) and a 4 percent boost in customer spending per visit (to $52.54). Those are nice numbers normally, but they are outstanding in a season as bad as the one everyone just experienced.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
