Airlines Warming Up To Alternative Payments
Written by Evan SchumanOctober 17th, 2007
Every day, we’re seeing a steady flow of hints that alternative payments are becoming a wee bit less …. well …. alternative.
This week, US Airways announced that it would start accepting PayPal for tickets. That news follows similar announcements from Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Midwest Air. Nothing shocking here, but airlines are hardly cutting-edge payment outfits. If they’re warming up to alternative payments, there may be something there.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
