Kroger’s, which controls about 2,473 U.S. supermarkets including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less and King Soopers, has inked a deal with IBM to use Big Blue’s Store Integration Framework across its chain, the two companies confirmed Friday.
The firms issued a vague statement that said few specifics about the plans, other than it will somehow involve more than 30,000 already-installed IBM SurePOS 700 POS units and that they are now being monitored by Tivoli Manager for Retail software.
Kroger CIO Chris Hjelm issued a brief statement that his chain intends to “significantly reduce development cycle times by using the open standards and techniques available through IBM’s framework.”
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
