More Than 60 Percent Of POS Today Between 5-10 Years Old

As of January, at least 60 percent of retailers have POS systems that are older than 5 years and a healthy chunk of those are more than 10 years old, according to an Aberdeen survey of 175 merchants.
The report tied those aging POS units with customer service problems “as order management, loyalty programs, and payment acceptance processes are fraught with delays,” according to this RetailWire column about the Aberdeen study
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
