Staples Signs 8,000-POS Deal
Written by Evan SchumanStaples, the $16 billion 1,800-store chain of office supply stores, is deploying about 8,000 Fujitsu POS terminals plus an unspecified wireless handhelds for inventory and line-busting, according to a joint statement issued on Wednesday.
The 3-year technology and services deal includes TeamPoS 2000 and TeamPoS 3000 POS terminals plus iPAD handheld wireless terminals and is part of a particularly long relationship (more than 20 years) between Staples and Fujitsu.
Fujitsu will also continue to stage, manage and install all in-store computer configurations, including hardware upgrades and replacement, as well as product procurement, the statement said. Fujitsu also will maintain multi-vendor technology devices, provide tactical help desk support and include services such as wiring, refurbishment and disposal.The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
