Woolworths Appoints New CIO

The $5.3 billion European chain Woolworths has switched CIOs, with CIO Stephen Bradley resigning “to pursue consulting and charity work,” according to this interesting ZDNet Australia story.
Woolworths has promoted its GM of IT, Daniel Beecham, to the CIO slot, promoting the 12-year company veteran on May 14. His first priority, the story said, will be to complete a new POS rollout across the chain.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
