Avoiding An ADA Lawsuit The Safeway

Safeway stores have started installing devices that will plug into existing POS units and use tactile keys to help visually-impaired shoppers make purchases without having to read a screen.
The idea is to help those shoppers privately enter PINs and other confidential data. The chain—which owns Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Genuardi’s, Dominick’s, Pak ‘n Save Foods and Carrs—has already equipped every California store with “several of the devices and they will be installed across the country over the next 12 months,” said a Safeway statement.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
