The Self-Checkout Muhammed Ali Pleads Guilty
Written by Evan SchumanOctober 13th, 2006
We now have closure to a story we reported in April about a Texas man who smashed in a Wal-Mart self-checkout man when it froze. The punching consumer—46-year-old Joel Wallace Hansen of Euless, Texas—pleaded guilty this week to disorderly conduct and was fined $286 and ordered to pay $1,000 for restitution, according to a report in the Star-Telegram.
“Our office position was that we attempt to get some type of restitution and that the defendant be held accountable for his actions” Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney Al Lazarus told the daily newspaper. “We accomplished that.”
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
