Toys-R-Us To Verify You-R-U

The 1,400-store chain Toys “R” Us is adding identity verification software to 832 of its U.S. stores, according to documents filed with the SEC on Tuesday, the Associated Press has reported.
The software, revealed in an SEC filing from the software vendor (Intelli-Check), will start being used at chain’s customer service counters, but will then move to POS lanes, the AP story said. Intelli-Check typically uses government identification–usually military IDs and state-issued driver’s licenses–to authenticate consumers.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
