Beijing’s Largest Retailer Embraces SaaS

Wangfujing, a huge Chinese department store chain that claims to serve 10 million shoppers every day and is Beijing’s largest retailer, has launched a SaaS trial, a move that the chain said will be the first time for any retailer in China.
The Web-based supply chain package will be available to all of Wangfujing’s 20,000 suppliers–to handle all business transactions from order processing to settlement—by December 2008, but only about one-tenth that many have access now, according to a Wangfujing statement. Wangfujing brought IBM in for this trial, where Big Blue said it would be using its WebSphere Application Server and DB2 database.
Cards issued by European banks when used online cross border don't usually support AVS checks. So, when a European card is used with a billing address that's in the US, an ecom merchant wouldn't necessarily know that the shipping zip code doesn't match the billing code.
